Signs & Symptoms of Spondyloarthritis

The symptoms of spondyloarthritis present in two primary ways:

  1. Most patients who are living with this inflammatory rheumatic condition suffer from low back pain. When treatment is not sought, spondyloarthritis can actually cause a fusion of the vertebrae and limit mobility in the spine.
  2. Although less common, some patients suffer from swelling and pain in their arms and legs. This is what’s known as peripheral spondyloarthritis.

Spondyloarthritis can also cause a variety of other complications without treatment, such as:

  • Chronic fatigue
  • Pain and redness in the eyes
  • Osteoporosis
  • Inflamed aortic heart valves
  • Intestinal inflammation
